Advertising is everywhere you look, wheter it is in the newspaper you pick up daily or on that billboard you see while driving down the highway
As this text says, advertising is everywhere you look, a very good idea that companies have used long ago, making people everywhere they are want to buy any service or product that any advertisement could be trying to sell. Advertising is not only in the manner we have studied, i mean, on papers, such newspapers, billboards or anything else; advertising is also introduced on the TV as commercials, in which sometimes, they can last up to 15 minutes. Those ways to persuade people make companies spend a lot of money, but with they can earn more than ten times the money they spent on advertising , in selling the product or service.
One very common example that call the attention of everybody when they look at it, is the one from Mac´Donalds. When you see this type of advertisement everyone will want to eat.
Advertisements are very powerful and they work very well on our minds, but not everybody can design an advertisement with this power, he must be an advertiser, a profesional man that knows how our brains receive information and how we analize it and understand it,it means, how to make the audience not realize they are been manipulated, because if they know it, they will not accept it. Advertisers hide the manipulative parts of the advertising, it needs to appear innocent in order to have any influence on people.

The very first law in advertising is to avoid
the concrete promise and cultivate
the delightfully vague.”
Well i think Bill cosby is rigth with this idea about advertisements. What advertisements try to do is to make people know about the good things about the product that it is trying to sell, and advertisers know this. They understand the people's mind and they know how to persuade us to use any product or service. I understant this idea like this in which advertisers will show the good part of everything and they will hide everything not okay, the price, the quality, etc. You will never find an advertisement that could say thet the quality of the product is not good or thing like that. Another way to understand this is the simplicity of a tipical advertisement, it shows the delighfully vague, i mean, not so many words, and it will avoid the concrete promise, never promising something special to the target group

Commercial Analysis
1 )This advertisement is trying to sell
the new model recently introduced by Crocs.
2 2 )At the left side of the
advertisement we can see that the commercial is set in some part of an unknown
city, and apparently on a cloudy day.
3 3)In the close-up of the image there
is a very happy woman that is using pants, sun-glasses, a t-shirt, a beach bag
and obviously her crocs. At the background
there are two people walking. They cannot be clearly seen so they are
not useful for the analysis.
4 4) Besides of the woman, there are not
too many objects on this advertisement, because the background of the image is
blurred. The objects that may be distinguished are: a car and a sort of lampposts
and more clearly a wooden path.
5 5)In the ad there is a woman walking
through a wooden path. She is very happy and comfortable because she is using
the crocs.
6 6 )The advertisement was designed
preferably for woman, because the type of toe shoe that the commercial is
trying to sell is a model for woman. But considering other people who may want
to buy something for their wife/mother/daughter/sister, the ad would be
oriented to everyone who could pay for it, I mean, in social terms, from middle
class and up.
7 7 )The message is that if you wear the
Crocs, you will feel as happy, comfortable and beautiful as the woman in the ad.
8 8)There is only one visual technique
in the advertisement and it is known as the blurred background. It is used on
the left side image in which the woman looks very clearly and the background
seems to be very blurred. The sense of this technique is to focus the attention
of people on the woman, not on the background, because she is the important
thing in the image.
9 9)There is not any endorsement on the
commercial.

Lord of the Flies and The Simpsons
The epidose that we will stydy was written by David S. Cohen and the similarities it has with the book: The Lord of the Flies, are not matches. This episode is based on the book, but the director and the guinist tried to make it funny.
First, we have that some of the characters on The Simpsons have a lot of similarities to the ones on the book, they act in the same way in both cases. Bart represents Ralph, because he is the one that gives instructions, he is a sort of leader. Nelson is very similar to Jack, Nelson hates Milhouse, and Jack hates Piggy... Sp we have another similarity, Milhouse represents Piggy, they both have glasses too.
Continuing with the comparison, in both cases, the leader uses the sound of the shell to call the group to an assembly. They also use the glasses if Piggy/Milhouse to make a fire and in both groups there is a rumor of a beast. When they were on the island, there were no grown-ups in either islands and the two gropups of survivors hunted a pig and they ate it.
The reason why they got lost was different now. In Lord of the Flies, they were travelling by airplane because the group of students were scaping from a war, and in The Simpsons, the students were on an excursion. They were all students too.
The Lord of the Flies
Chapter two: on the mountain
Ralph told the others that they are on an island. The are no houses and no boats, they are on and uninhabited island. They will have rules, they can´t speak all at once. A littlun said that he saw a bestie, a big snake. They went to the top of the mountain to make a fire and call the attention of any ship or airplane.
Chapter three: Huts on the beach:
Jack returns with nothing on hands from a hunting day and he met Simon and Ralph, who were building shelters for the younger ones to live in, but dessafortunately they could not do the job by theirselves, so the shelters fall down before they were completed. While Jack and Ralph were disscusing because of work, Simon went towards the forest to help the littluns reach fruits. Both of them thought he might be in the lagoon, so thjey took a bath. Finally, Simon walked deeper into the forest and he found an open space full of nature.
Questions:
Who was the one that helped Ralph doing the shelters?
Why did they need shelters?
Chapter four: Painted faces and long hair:
Who were the bigguns who distroyed the littlun's sand casttles?
What were doing the fire watchers when the group saw a ship passing?
Chapter five: Beast from water
Why did Ralph call the group to an assembly?
Which of the boys gives the idea that the beast comes from the sea?

The sound of the shell, Lord of the Flies by William Golding
The sound of the shell
Ralph and Piggy joined at a supposed island after a transport plane carrying a gropup of English students, in which they were inside, was shot down over that site. Once, Ralph realized there was a conch in the lagoon they had found before, and Piggy thought they could use it to make a very loud sound, and attract the other survivors to the shore of the lagoon, where they bothj were placed. When everyone was there, they all met each other and voted for Ralph to be the chief of the group, abd then, Simon, Jack and him went through the shore trying to discover if they were on an island or not. The three boys found a mountain easy to climb up, they did it and realized their guess was right, it was an island.

First day of school of two
- The two writers are boys, Laurie Lee and Austin Clarke.
- The first day of school of Laurie was at the Village School in England, and the first day of Austin was at the Combermere School in Barbados.
- The Village school is a primary school, the students remain there until they were fourteen years old, and then they were presented to any working field or a factory; instead of the Combermere School that is a second grade school, In which if you do it well, you would turn into a civil servant, and if you didn’t do well, you could be a sanitary inspector or a book keeper.
- Laurie Lee didn´t want to go to school the first day, Austin didn´t have a certain opinion about education.
- The Village school was a disorderly one, people with old boots, ragged stockings, torn trousers and skirts were skating and skidding everywhere, in place of the other school in Barbados, everyone clean , with cut and clean hair.
- Apparently, in the Conbermere School the was no harassment to other, but in the Village school, the big ones harassed Laurie, they stole his potato, plucked at his scarves, spun him around and more, making him refuse to go back to the school.
